
Defending US Open champion Roger Federer will be defending his title this afternoon against Juan Martin Del Porto as they go head to head in the much-awaited men’s finals match of the US Open 2009.
Both Federer and Del Potro played brilliantly during their semi-final matches.
Federer won his 40th straight US open victory after he defeated Novak Djokovic with scores 7-6(3), 7-5, 7-5 and claims to have done “the greatest shot I ever hit” after setting up a triple match point against Djokovic.
Del Potro sealed the Rafael Nadal‘s fate after dominating the match with a respectable 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 against the No. 3 seed. Nadal told reporters, “Yeah, very difficult, the match today, no? He played really well today, much better than me,” Nadal said. “He was much better than me today, and I congratulate him.”
