The Mayweather-Mosley bout materialized when Andre Berto pulled out of his scheduled January 30 unification bout against Mosley after the earthquake in Haiti claimed several members of his family.

Both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley agreed to Olympic style drug testing for this fight, which included random sampling of blood and urine. Mayweather proposed this type of drug testing when negotiations with Manny Pacquiao first took place in early 2010. The drug testing procedure was rejected by Pacquiao and later led to the disintegration of the highly-anticipated Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.

Mosley, on the other hand, did not oppose the drug testing procedure. Mosley wanted to silence the rumors that he used steroids back in 2003.

Mayweather is currently undefeated with 40 wins including 25 by knockout and was rated by The Ring magazine as the number-one pound for pound boxer in the world. Mayweather intends to make Mosley his 41th, saying “I’m saying to you guys again, that isn’t going to happen. He’s not going to beat me.”
