Houston, we have a problem. Whitney Houston had some voice problems Sunday night during a performance at London’s O2, her first performance at the venue since 1999.
Sometimes shit happens when it really matters. It was the opening night for the European leg of her “Nothing But Love” tour.
The diva struggled to reach the high notes of some of her best songs which, years ago, she used to nail without even trying.
USA Today reported that Houston said, “She don’t want to come, my soprano friend,” in the midst of her “I Will Always Love You”.
She then continues to explain her voice problems, even blaming it on the venue’s air conditioning. “Sometimes the old girl sings, but not tonight. I want to do it, but she doesn’t want to. … She’s getting a little … temperamental, even.”
Houston was criticized for skipping some parts of the song, appearing out of breath, and relying on her background singers to do the singing she was supposed to do.
