Who Won the Pacquiao-Clottey fight: Joshua Clottey’s height and toughness were not enough to stop Manny Pacquiao’s flurry, outpunching the Ghanaian four, five and even six to one at times in winning a wide decision.
Winning by unanimous decision, Pacquiao successfully defended his World Boxing Organization welterweight title and his status as the best pound-for-pound fighter.
It was no contest as Clottey simply kept his guard high and rarely threw punches. According to CompuBox, Pacquiao landed 246 of 1,231 punches; Clottey connected on just 108 of 399.
Clottey never opened up his defense was backed up all night defending himself from the Pacman’s barrage. True to his word, Clottey was not knocked down by the Filipino fighter.
Now that Clottey’s down and out, will Floyd Mayweather Jr. step up and try to “conquer” Pacquiao?
