In November, Geraint Llyr Owen, 13, a member of Llandaff Cathedral Choir, Cardiff, performed a solo in Pie Jesu at the Celebrating Karl Jenkins concert at the Wales Millennium Centre.

A clip of the concert was posted on YouTube after it was broadcast on the Welsh language channel S4C.

Distinguished Concerts International New York saw it and invited Geraint to perform the same piece in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day concert in the Avery Fisher Hall in the Lincoln Center on Broadway on Jan 18.

“I am very excited. I like to perform in any theatre because of the buzz you get, but Broadway is by far the biggest. I was thrilled when I was chosen to do several solos during the Christmas services at the cathedral, but this invitation to New York tops the lot,” the schoolboy said.

“I have always wanted to see Broadway, but to perform there is a dream come true,” he added.
