The Pittsburgh Penguins had a heart breaking loss in the playoffs, versus the Montreal Canadiens. They lead the series, 3-2, needing just one victory to advance to the next round, but the Canadiens took Games 6 & 7, Sidney Crosby scored on a boarding penalty in the deciding game to save the Canadiens.
The Canadiens now await for their Eastern Conference Finals opponents, which will be decided tonight in Game 7 between the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Pittsburgh Penguins was one of the first expansion teams during the league’s original expansion from six to twelve teams. The Penguins have played in Mellon Arena since their first season and will be transferring to the Consol Energy Center in time for the 2010-2011 NHL season. The team has bagged three Stanley Cup championships, ’90-’91, ’91-’92 and ’08-’09.
In a related report, people were arrested in Montreal the night of Game 7 when fans started celebrating the bad way, resulting in store breaking and looting, sports stores and liquor shops were the ones mostly hit.
