Yes, you’ve read that right. The author, Stephenie Meyer, herself admitted that she’s “burned out on vampires,” the theme of her best-selling novels-turned-movies and the creatures that brought her fame and fortune.

It looks like we’re not getting new vampire-related works from Meyer anytime soon! This is a news that brings disappointment to millions of fans who have been waiting for the author to finish Midnight Sun, the Twilight version told from Edward’s perspective.

After a partial draft was illegally leaked on the internet back in 2008, Meyer decided to halt the writing process of the novel until she feels like it again. Well, it appears she might not feel like it soon.

Meyer has this to say about her feelings on finishing Midnight Sun:

“I want to wait until I’m excited about the material again, and I’m excited about Edward, and that it’s something that’s motivating… Right now, it feels like homework. And when things feel like homework they go very, very slowly for me. So it’s still not a ‘It’s not gonna happen!’ I want to do it when I can do it right.”

I wonder what it will take for Meyer to revive her rave for vampires and get back the drive to finish Midnight Sun.

Meanwhile, The Twilight Saga’s third movie installment, Eclipse, officially hits theaters on June 30.

Two more movies based on the popular vampire novel series are set to be made as the Breaking Dawn plot has to be split up into two films.
