Ah…Facebook, who ever doesn’t own an “FB” account is a sure dinosaur. But if you stuck with an older social network like Friendster, you’re only a grandpa or a grandma. Seen the film The Social Network? It’s a film about the founding of Facebook.
Is it because of that 2010 film or is FB really a phenomenon like the cellphone, that has turned to a necessity? Whatever the reason maybe, the company boasts of 750 million members to date.
“The metric of the last five years was about user growth, ” says FB CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a press conference announcing a new feature on Facebook, video calling. “The driving narrative of the next five years is not about wiring up the world but what cool stuff can you build with this wiring in place.”
“We did not report 750 million because we do not believe it is the metric,” the CEO added. “Nothing the rate at which users are sharing stuff is growing at an exponential rate.”
