These days, it doesn’t take long for things to change for Tiger Woods. Finishing 18-over-par can do that to a guy.

Woods was whistling a different tune at Whistling Straits, the venue for this week’s 92nd PGA Championship, exactly a week after refusing to say whether or not he would accept a captain’s selection onto the 2010 US Ryder Cup team if he fails to make it on points.

In a clipped, one-word answer when asked yesterday if he would accept being Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin’s pick for the fall team competition against Europe’s best players if such a pick was the only way he could make the team, Woods said, “Yes.”

A week ago, when asked the same question, “I intend to play my way onto the team.” His answer was identical when the question was phrased differently. But a final round 77 and a four-day total of 18-over at the Bridgestone Invitational last weekend that left him tied for 78th seemed to have changed Woods’ thinking.
