Recent news revealed that Ellen was not ready to leave American Idol just yet, and even begged the producers not to fire her.

Showbiz Spy had previously reported that the daytime talk show host left on her own, but producers corrected them by saying she was not wanted anymore.

Insiders say that Ellen wanted to remain a judge because it gave her a strong pull in the music industry.

“She is devastated she’s been booted,” a source shared to the National Enquirer.

“Her version about quitting is major damage control. She’s been telling everyone she’d definitely be back next season. Then she suddenly changed her tune.”

The source said that when executive producer Nigel Lythgoe came back on Idol, “his first order of business was to get rid of Ellen.”

“It’s nothing personal. He just doesn’t feel she added anything to the show. In fact, he feels she’s hurt the program and blames her for contributing to the plummeting ratings.”

“Ellen basically told FOX, ‘Hell, no, I won’t go!’

“She had a multi-year deal, renewable by the network every year, and had already signed up for the new season. She refused to take a multi-million dollar payoff deal and leave quietly.

“She’s a very wealthy woman and in a position where she could afford to turn down the big bucks.

“Since joining the show, she’s become a music fanatic. She even started her own record label called eleveneleven to promote young talent.

“Being an Idol judge has given her credibility in the music industry and she didn’t want to relinquish that power. But Ellen agreed to a payoff because she didn’t want to be somewhere she’s not wanted.”

“Losing Idol has hit Ellen really hard. She’s deeply hurt.”
