National Public Radio fired long-time analyst Juan Williams got the boot yesterday for connecting Islamic faith with terrorism, saying he gets “worried” and “nervous” when he sees Muslims inside planes, live on Bill O’Reilly’s show. Williams got a call after his statement with O’Reilly, and was fired immediately. Now, even before a whole day has ended, the commentator found a new job working for Fox News with a whopping $2 million contract. He will now appear more often on the station and write a column on Fox News’ website.

Fox News Chief Executive Roger Ailes took a swing at NPR in his statement when announcing the three-year deal. “He’s an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis,” Roger said.

“She went on the say, ‘Well, that crosses the line.’ And I said, ‘What line is that?’ And she went on to somehow suggest that I had made a bigoted statement. And I said, ‘That’s not a bigoted statement. I, in fact, in the course of this conversation with Bill O’Reilly, said that we have, as Americans, an obligation to be careful to protect the Constitutional rights of everyone in the country, and to make sure we don’t have any outbreak of bigotry. But that there’s a reality, you can not ignore what happened on 9/11, and you can not ignore the connection to Islamic radicalism.’”
