If you’ve missed this explosive edition of UFC 121: Lesnar vs Velasquez, or, want to watch it again, here’s a chance to see it again.
The fight between ex-champ Brock Lesnar and newly crownd champ, Cain Velasquez reminded me the earlier days of UFC, particularly the match between Tank Abbot and a young Brazilian fighter Vitor Belfort.
Velasquez was just too much for Lesnar to take despite his height, reach and weight advantage. Velasquez had the battle on his terms, plus, he was too slippery and could quickly get out of Brock’s holds. Deadly when on his two feet, even deadlier on the ground with ground and pound. It was entertaining to see Brock fire up Velasquez with a few flying knees. Who knows, the match would’ve ended differently if those connected. Brock has huge legs, and has a powerful upper.
There really isn’t much to say about the fight (though I just did say a lot), except for “wow”.
