Colombo, Sri Lanka - The Azkals scored a draw against the Sri Lanka Lions in yesterdays match, 1-1. Sri Lanka’s Chathura Gunarathna first sank a43rd minute goal , then Azkal mid-fielder, Nate Burkey also put in one on the 49th minute.

“I’m not the happiest man in the world but I’m not too disappointed. We take the result as it is and prepare for the match on Sunday,” said German coach Hans Michael Weiss via Interaction.com.

“I think we were better and superior. And if we scored the first or the second goal, the game would have been over,” evaluated Weiss.

Philippine Football Federation chief Mariano Araneta agrees. “The Azkals were more skillful but sluggish in the first half.”

Burkey entered the field at the 4oth minute of the first half, replacing the injured Phil Younghusband. He completed the play set up by a free kick from Caligdong for that all important goal.

To advance against Kuwait, the dogs only need to hold the cats scoreless on July 3. If the game ends even, 1-1, the game continues on overtime. But if it ends evenly, 2-2, PH will be eliminated.
