The dogs are in their final preps, as they will ace a big cat in a foreign but familiar “ground” at the Pearl Of the Indian Ocean. The cat-dog fight will be held in Columbo, Sri Lanka on the 28th, and on the 3rd of July, the Azkals will host the Lions at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila or at the Panaad stadium in Bacolod City on the 4th.

The first round will be action-packed as teams will kick their way to be at the top 8 to move on to the second round of the AFC 2014.

Though the Philippine Team is ranked 22 notches higher than the Lions’ 173 ranking, Sri Lanka have won the title in the South Asia Football Federation (SAAF) in 1995 and have reached the semis in 2008 and 2009.

While the Philippine National Football is one of the oldest national teams in Asia, they have never really qualified for the AFC Asia Cup or the FIFA World Cup. The PH team has enjoyed success from 1913-34, this will be a huge bite for the Azkals.

If the new rosters plows the first round, the Azkals will face a strong Kuwait team that ranks at 103.
