Confident words for the 6-foot-3 mammoth-of-a-man, who is the current UFC heavyweight champ. Brock has earned respect in the Mixed Martial Arts world after defeating a couple of known great fighters that included Frank Mir, Shane Carwin and “the Natural” Randy Couture from whom he took the title.

Talking of his previous victory over Carwin in July this year, Brock almost lost when Carwin knocked Lesnar down and had him in serious danger with his ground and pound. Lesnar has become Carwin’s first opponent to go past the first round.

“It was a huge confidence booster knowing that I can take a pretty good shot,” said Lesnar. “Obviously someone like Shane Carwin is heavy handed and landed a lot of good punches on me. But I was able to survive, come back in the second round and secure a submission victory, so it’s been a huge confidence builder for me.”

The referee almost stopped the fight.

Referee Josh Rosenthal was quoted in a post fight interview stating he was very close to ending the bout. “When he curled up after (the initial barrage), that is when I commanded him to fight back, at which point he did and that’s when he went for feet on the hips and pushed Carwin away and got to his knees.”

Then in round 2, Lesnar saw an opening against the fatigued Carwin and won by an arm triangle choke.

“Obviously I’m the heavyweight champ for a reason,” Lesnar said. “I don’t think Cain Velasquez is the guy who’s going to take it away from me.”
