Captain America: The First Avenger will be showing a couple of days. Unfortunately for the World War II hero, his movie title will have to be changed  in three countries most likely for cultural and political reasons.

Communist countries China and Ukraine, and former communist country, Russia, have asked the star-spangled costumed hero to keep his nationality low-key in fear of offending viewers, and non-viewers alike.

Though it is common for American blockbusters to feature less US-focused titles in foreign markets, Paramount largely decided against the alterations for Captain America, and instead gave foreign countries  the choice of two titles, Captain America: The First Avenger or The First Avenger. source

It has caused great concern for distributors not to use the super soldier’s alias, because the name itself is popular and very identifiable to the hero and “his” movie.

Representatives from Marvel and Paramount have yet to comment on why Russia, Ukraine and China chose The First Avenger. In China, the film is expected not to be released in theaters, due to a policy that the country only allows 20 foreign films to be seen each year.

The film is scheduled for release this July 22nd.
