The pop diva sent her interior designer, Kenneth Bordewick, to bid on an ornate living room set owned by the king of pop, Michael Jackson, at Julien’s Auctions in Vegas. “Mariah is very interested in the sofa set, which is expected to fetch $150,000, but I think it’s more likely to go under the hammer for $1 million,” the designer said.

MJ purchased the furniture for the London mansion he was to live in during the run of his ill-fated This Is It tour. Jackson paid $200,000 for the set, and is expected to fetch at least $1m at the auction. According to TMZ, the proceeds, minus the commissions, will go to Jackson’s estate.

But it turned out, Carey decided not to purchase living room set. Reports say that the sofa ended up going for $120,000 and the armchairs went for $40,000, and Bordewick didn’t even bid on a single item which sold much lower of what was expected.
