The 38-year old Golden Boy, who became the first boxer in history to win 10 world titles in 6 different weight divisions denies he will go back inside the ring as rumored by trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr, who’s infamous with what goes out of his mouth.

Instead, the former champ is facing foes outside the ring, they came as alcoholism, drugs and adultery. That’s almost living a rock star’s life, only the boxer is million times richer.

In May, De La Hoya had given a hint he had problems, but chose not to reveal it at that time. “After doing an honest evaluation of myself, I recognize that there are certain issues that I need to work on,” Oscar said. “Like everyone, I have my flaws, and I don’t want to be one of those people that is afraid to admit and address those flaws.”

The boxer later confesses after checking for treatment at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, that he’s been losing against cocaine abuse, alcoholism and cheating his wife.

Oscar spoke with Univision, saying, “There were drugs, my drug of choice was cocaine and alcohol. Cocaine was recent. The last 2 years, 2-and-a-half years I depended more on alcohol that the cocaine.”

He also admitted to being unfaithful, but not to a Tiger Woods-degree.

He’s been entertaining thoughts of killing himself too, but is short of strength and courage to do so.

On the contrary my boxing idol, suicide is for the weak and the coward. Press on, you’ve been sober for three months now. You can win this fight.
