Getting the idea from NFL player Chad Ochocinco who used to be Chad Johnson, Lakers’ Artest/World Peace was inspired not only to appear in Dancing With The Stars, but to change his name as well.

“Metta is going to be the first name and means like friendship, love and kindness,… World Peace is going to be the last name, so everybody can get ready to buy their World Peace jerseys,” said the basketball and rapper formerly known as Ron Artest.

“Three years ago I was gonna do it, but then I was like no, I’m not gonna do it. But then I said, ‘ok, I’m gonna do it and be inspirational.’”

Yes, yes, yes…World Peace holds the record for the longest suspension for an on-court incident in NBA history. That’s 73 regular season games and 13 playoff games, a total of 86 missed games. But people change, and most of them want to change for the better.

World Peace’s move to for a name-change was got delayed for a month due to an outstanding ticket.

World Peace was not present at the hearing at L.A. Superior Court last Friday. His attorney Nahla Rajan was there before the judge to make the change legal. And now that it is official, the NBA star’s daughter Diamond now plans to has her last name change to World Peace.

I guess there will be no more brawls for Mr. World Peace in his lifetime, what do you think?
