The San Diego Chargers are set to open up their 16-game season at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. A lot of changes has transpired in their line up since the 2009 regular season. On top of that, the Chargers will be missing a few players that are still apart of the Chargers club such as Vincent Jackson, Marcus McNeil, and most likely Shawne Merriman won’t be playing. Jackson, and McNeil are currently holding out and Merriman is uncertain with an Achilles injury.

With the turn of events, San Diego is still deadly despite the absence of Vincent Jackson. Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates are definitely the best QB-TE passing combo in the NFL. The Chargers have other wide out besides Vincent Jackson, but none with the kind of height that Jackson has.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs don’t have that great of a run defense but it is a decent developing run defense. They have players like Tamba Hali an Mike Vrabel that will be forces for Mathews to watch for.
