Spain wins it’s first ever World Cup title after beating Netherlands 1-0 in the finals!

Andres Iniesta‘s lone goal in the 116′ minute sealed Netherlands’ doom with just 4 minutes remaining. Spain played the same patient possession play it used to subtly crush it’s opponents in the qualifiers and group matches, but missed a lot of opportunities to score in normal time.

Iniesta clinched the winning shot from the corner after receiving the pass from sub Cesc Fabregas.

English referee Howard Webb had a field day during the Spain-Netherlands showdown issuing 14 yellow cards, starting in the 14′ with Robin van Persie.

Netherlands racked in a total of 9 yellow cards and a red card for Johnny Heitinga. The Dutch got their first 4 yellows in the first period and lost their cool extra-time allowing Spain to outclass them. Arjen Robben missed two chances to score even as he went one-on-one with Spanish keeper Iker Casillas.

Congratulation Spain! Viva Espana!
