Former Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, joins the Baltimore Ravens. The deal got sealed last Sunday, after getting the boot from the Seahawks over the weekend after playing just one season of his five-year, $40 million contract he signed just a year ago.

The 32-year old Houshmandzadeh has averaged 87 grabs per year since 2004, but he won’t stretch the field like Stallworth as he’s managed only 10.5 yards per reception over the last three years.

The former Oregon State player will provide further receiving depth for a team that seems ready to air it out after getting WR Anquan Boldin in the offseason. Plus, WR Donte Stallworth is indefinitely sidelined due to a broken foot, and that’s where Houshmandzadeh is likely to take over their role.

The Baltimore Ravens agreed to terms with a one-year, $855,000 contract.

“Right now, I’d be more prone to see if we could find a younger guy or somebody that’s been around in a West Coast offense,” Minnesota Vikings Coach Brad Childress said who wasn’t interested in the 9-year NFL veteran.
