Oh okay, so it’s chapter two of a battle between two classic sci-fi space-based movies, television series and print. On the left corner, setting a record earning 4.4 billion dollars as of 2008, the brain child of producer, screen writer and director George Lucas…it’s Star Wars! And on the right, it has 11 movies to date and possibly its 12th coming next year, it’s birth started in a television series that dates back in 1966, the brain child of Gene Roddenberry…Star Trek!

There’s no battle really between the two most popular and successful sci-fi franchise ever to grace the entertainment industry, its just a battalion of Jedi’s, Wookies and Ewoks versus James T. Kirk actor William Shatner.

So does Shatner have something new to say why Trek is the number one pound-for-pound king of space sagas?

Shatner claims that Star Wars was actually a derivative of Star Trek. Trek was about “relationships” and “stories that involved humanity and philosophical questions.” While Star Wars was about “special effects; [it] was ILM at its best.”

He adds that J.J. Abram’s 2009 film version is far superior, that the version dealt “with more human principles ” and now “has more special effects than Star Wars, so Star Wars has nothing to stand on.”

Shatner even takes a bite at the beauty of the actresses in Star Wars.

“Princess Leia, as beautiful as she was and as wonderful an actress as [Carrie Fisher] is, can’t compare to the marvelous heroines we have on Star Trek. The pretty girls were prettier than the girls in Star Wars.”

Hmm…I was kinda waiting for Shatner comparing his looks to Jabba. How about Space Balls? Can it stand up to Star Strek?
